About

Following fieldwork in Guatemala between April 2009 and March 2010, I am writing my dissertation on forms of communal land access in Guatemala, the role of recently landed communities within the broader campesino movement, and the complicated relationship between the movement and neoliberal agrarian policies and institutions.

Other research interests include violence and impunity in post-war Guatemala, especially concerning organized armed groups (death squads, organized crime, narcos, gangs, paramilitaries/exPAC, private security, vigilante and social cleansing groups...'clandestine structures' and their ties to state institutions and networks of power).
