About
Robert V. Kozinets is a globally recognized expert on social media, marketing research, innovation, and marketing strategy. He has extensive speaking, training, and consulting experience with a range of global companies and organizations, including HSBC, TD Banking and Financial Group, American Express, Merck, Sony, Nissan, eBay, and Campbell Soup. An anthropologist by training, he is Professor of Marketing at York University’s Schulich School of Business, where he is also the chair of the Marketing Department. Previously, he was a full-time faculty member at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management in Chicago, and at the University of Wisconsin in Madison’s Wisconsin School of Business.
His research investigates the dynamic cultural interface of technology, consumption and media. It has been published in over 60 chapters, proceedings, and articles in some of the world’s top-tier marketing journals, including the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Marketing Research, the Journal of Retailing, and the Journal of Consumer Research. His co-edited volume Consumer Tribes was published in 2007 by Elsevier Press. His 2010 book, published by Sage, is entitled Netnography: Doing Ethnographic Research Online.
His opinions on branding and consumer culture have been featured in global media from the New York Times and Newsweek to the Discovery Channel, the CBS National News, the Huffington Post, Germany’s Handelsblatt, Brazil’s Bites Magazine, Canada’s National Post and MacLean’s, New Zealand’s The Independent, and Australia’s Boss Magazine. In 2006, Canadian Business magazine honored his move to Canada from the United States by calling him a “marketing legend.”
