Dr. Thomas Teo

About

I am a doctoral candidate in the history and theory of psychology program at York University. My dissertation research centers on conceptions of empathy. Through a critical historicist lens the aim of my dissertation is to tell the tales of many empathies.

My subject-matter interests include: relationality, intersubjectivity, liminality, and in general, exploring the "space between." During my doctoral program I have had hands-on experience doing qualitative research and have also acquired a practical knowledge of the different tools available for historical research. Philosophically and theoretically, I have a strong interest in continental European philosophies and philosophers; and in particular, I am interested in the hermeneutic tradition and phenomenology.
