About
Adam Pearce is a PhD Candidate (with a specialization in comparative politics) at York University. He currently teaches Political Theory at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario. He is interested in the Ethics of Transnational Protest in the Global South. More specifically, his work examines the intersection of international NGO activism and local politics in Botswana. The case study at the core of this work is the relocation of the Kua peoples of the CKGR. He holds an MA in Comparative Politics and is currently completing his dissertation in pursuit of his PhD. Recipient of a 2009 IDRC Dissertation Research Grant, he recently returned from field work in Botswana towards the completion of his dissertation. Adam is interested in the ethical challenges of democratic development and the theoretical underpinnings of that concept as it is currently used. He is also interested the contested nature of indigeneity and the challenges of relocated communities. As a consequence of his current work he is working on two projects concerning indigeneity and property within the context of sub-Saharan Africa.
